Photobooth : R+R

It’s raining photo-booths!! Not that we are complaining! Photo booths give us the perfect opportunity to expand our creativity and improve our ‘controlled’ photography. This year (by which I mean 2011)has been just such a photo boothy kind of year and not one has been the same. I am rather pleased that people put so much thought into their photo booth and it isn’t just another add-on at a wedding/party/event. The things you can do are endless and the fun to be had in a photo booth is incomparable.

This was an extra special photo booth since it was for a very dear friends engagement party . It’s nice to be appreciated by your friends for the work you do and when they treat you like professionals, you can’t help but think that maybe you are doing something (very) right.

The theme was to keep it minimal-white and gold. We had been dying to use these paper flowers seen all over Pinterest (of course) – they are so delicious looking – and this seemed the perfect opportunity. Though the flowers are YUMMY in all these colours, we decided to stick to white (since that was the theme) and to add some gold to it.

I had shown April these flowers as an example and actually had no idea how to make them-I am challenged in that sense but thankfully she isn’t ! The next day when I went to her house, I saw her living floor was covered in paper, little helpers cutting and folding the paper and these gorgeous white flowers strewn all over! Over the next few days, hundreds of flowers were made and anyone who stopped by helped by folding or opening out a flower. The making of the flower really deserves a post of it’s own which you will have to wait for! {Coming soon : DIY tutorial for making paper flowers }

Here are some photos of the photo booth under construction in April’s home. They were up against a window and the light streaming through the paper flowers just added to the gorgeousness of it all.

Once the flowers were ready, we added some gold cloth to the bottom just to add that splash of colour. It all came together when we set up the backdrop in the little tent at the engagement. As you can see from the photos, the white cloth with the gold print on it went perfectly with the backdrop. We didn’t want too many props since we figured every one would be dressed in their finery which meant loads of colour  and over-doing the props would take away from the minimalistic feel of it all!We couldn’t resist the moustaches on a stick though and even had tiny little chalkboards and colourful frames as part of the prop box!

The lovely couple!

Here are some fun photos from the photo booth!

DIY Monday

Oooh! It’s Monday!!! Yay?!

What are we making today? Well, we are spray painting a bicycle in the Unreal office today but since you guys can’t be a part of that- here is a cute little project to keep you busy this week. Infact, I might ACTUALLY attempt this because I have two sets of scrabble just lying around begging to be used for some DIY type project.

If you thought foodgawker was awesome, wedding gawker is even better! This is where I found this awesome project. Follow this link to Intimate Weddings to read all the steps on how to make these cute little scrabble coasters.

I really try and find simple DIY projects because like I have said a hundred times before-I am terrible at this stuff. I try and I try-but I always mess up. At least with something pretty straightforward -I am (kind of ) confident I won’t make a mess of it! I think these would be nice name plates at a wedding, don’t you?

Have a great week 🙂

DIY Monday Boho Braid

Monday has come so quickly , hasn’t it? Actually, September has come so quickly!!! Really have to learn to hold on to each second of each day otherwise you will suddenly realise you are in December and haven’t even gotten through half your 2011 to-do list!

So, if I still had long locks , I would definitely be doing this to my hair just for fun or for the upcoming wedding season! It is totally perfect for people like me with super thick hair. I love this style and for the first time in a year, I miss my long hair!

I came across this tutorial on The Beauty Department -I think the pictures say it all (don’t they always?) but if you want to read how to make the Boho Braid, read all the steps here!

DIY Monday :Photo Coasters

To all you newbies- DIY is Do it Yourself just fyi. FYI is For Your Information, ok? It’s not like I think you guys don’t know all this but what if there are one or two of you who don’t? Got to keep you updated now don’t I!

Alright, first of all have you all checked out our giveaway? There is one day left to enter and it’s a really special giveaway because it coincided with our first blog birthday! Go give it a looksie now if you haven’t already!

I am fascinated by DIY projects probably because I am so useless at them-I would love to create things because it fascinates me but at the end of the day or project, it always ends in a disaster. So I am in the search of projects that are fairly easy and fun. I found this one on Pinterest (ofcourse !! Where else would I find all this cool stuff?!) and thought I would share it with you.

It’s easy, fun and the perfect present! Anything to do with photos is fun , right? I think having coasters with your photos on it is pretty awesome but would you end up using them as coasters? I doubt I would, just like those awesome cookies which are too pretty to eat!

To read the entire process of HOW to make the coasters, go to Lee La La, the blog I found this on. It’s short and simple! Let me know if you ever get around to making these- would love to see how they turned out!

Have a good week everyone and happy creating!

Thursday Thoughts : Ideal Invitations !

Today has been SUCH a busy day – we just finished off a photo shoot with the boys from HDegree for an ad campaign for this new shop in town- Loft in Space (cool name , huh?) . Anyway, we were there all day and have been prepping for it the last couple of days and our Thursday Thoughts kind of took a back seat! That’s why we are so late in the day posting this!

This week we decided to show you some of the beyond-gorgeous invitations we have seen in the World of Wedding Blogs! We couldn’t fit everything out there in this one post so we have chosen a few for you to check out.

The first set of pictures are handmade cards we found on Love and Lavender of Jodi and Kurt’s wedding .We spoke about Jodi Miller earlier  on the blog here .The cameos are what struck us as so original-and all the little details like the map being designed by the grooms brother in law  just make these so special. We especially love the little cd in it with a cute stop motion film!

Each invitation had a cd included with a cute stop motion film made by Jodi & Kurt.
