The internet is a wonderful place-the kind of connections you can make because of it are countless. If used correctly that is. Ofcourse, it gives stalkers the best opportunity to stalk and be creepy but you have to be a smart internet user. Anyway, you all already know that. I am only talking about it because it was because of our mutual healthy stalking that I discovered the amazing photographers Sitwat & Insiya who are based in Karachi.
First, we stalked each other on Instagram (or was it facebook?), then Twitter, then email and finally we exchanged phone numbers ! It’s equal parts amazing and cool to find people just like you not so far (but far enough) away. Most our conversations were/are centred around possible meetings, collaborations and even holidays. I haven’t met these girls but I feel like I have known them forever . Is it because I stalk them ? Possibly. It’s healthy stalking though! Heh.
One of these attempts to meet was when Sitwat asked me to come and photograph her wedding in Karachi. WHATTTT!!!? Super huge honour right there in itself when a fellow photographer asks you to come photograph their wedding. Trying to be as un-excited as possible so we didn’t jinx it -I couldn’t help but be super excited. I missed an amazing opportunity to travel to Pakistan earlier and I sure as heck didn’t want to miss this one.Alas, the visa procedures are SO OUT OF CONTROL that I didn’t get mine and I didn’t get to go for the wedding. This is the really short and sweet version of my story but do you sense the bitterness?
Instead, Insiya had to shoot her best friend(s) wedding- it’s kind of not fun if you have to concentrate on photographing AND having fun AND being a good friend during a wedding. Ever tried to shoot a wedding wearing full wedding outfit gear? Not easy.Despite that she did an awesome job.
I HAD to share some photos of this unreal bride from across the border- a wedding I should have shot but didn’t. I am definitely going to pay them a visit one of these days. Let’s see who stops me then!
