The Princess finds her Prince!

Man! Nothing like a cheesy title to catch your attention, is there?  There was no other way to put it really. Princess Mits found her Prince in Shining Armour! While I managed to photograph a bit of it, our favourite Starving Artist made a video! I have said it before and I say it again-very few  people in India make the cut for originality and absolute brilliance in video making. Starving Artist Videos is one and the other is….any guesses….. duh! The Wedding Filmer ofcourse. I hold back from featuring each and every video by these guys but if I could , I would. I just saw the last post I wrote about S.A.V and I am just repeating myself over and over. Apologies. I am getting old! and I LOVE THEM.

Since this seems to be the week to feature this wedding, I thought it only appropriate to have this beautiful video on the blog as well!

A Valley Wedding Real Wedding

One fine day, we got an email asking about The Unreal Bride’s services and if April (the person) and I were available to do a one day wedding in Bangalore in April (the month-hehe sorry! Couldn’t resist that!). Used to the fact that people misunderstand what our roles are at The Unreal Bride, I wrote back saying I cover weddings and April does the styling and honestly, didn’t expect a  reply. So when I got this reply, it was just about the best thing to happen that week!

I love your blog – it’s the only bit of Indian wedding yumminess I’ve found online. I love that you guys are excited about fun, creative weddings. And I love all of your styling – the styled shoots on your blog as well as your own wedding.

And so I think when I wrote to you, it was that aesthetic that I wanted to take a handful of and sprinkle over our wedding!

I just found and read your own ‘Make up and Bling‘ post and that’s quite exactly how I feel. So I guess I was sort of imagining you and April coming down here together, taking the wild bride in hand and turning out something quite beautiful, and then photographing your creation. 😀 (I do love your photography too!)”
April usually doesn’t do make up for brides but she had done mine and Shalini (the bride to be) wanted something along the same lines so we decided that if it can be done, then why not? This is exactly what we have wanted to do as a team and this was the most perfect opportunity!
Before we knew it, we were on a flight to Bangalore which with it’s beautiful trees is so easy to fall in love with! Our stay in Bangalore was short but one we won’t forget easily.
The wedding was a small intimate affair at the wild beautiful Krishnamurti school where Shalini grew up and where her fiance, Aditya, first met and began seeing each other. There were just about a hundred people(man! How I love small 100 people weddings!).  There was a ceremony of the couple’s own creation- some songs , speeches , symbolic circling of the fire, folk dances and more music! The ceremony began around sunset in the most magnificent surrounding (think trees and more trees and the blue sky that turned to purple). The rain put in a guest appearance and amongst the guests were the stray dogs (<3) that live on the school grounds. After the ceremony, the friends and family moved to the amphitheatre where there would be some dancing and dinner would be served . We just loved all the personal elements at the wedding- the decor was all stuff made by the couple and their friends- origami cranes, mason jars, photographs, strings of fairy lights, bunches of beautiful wild flowers and marigolds everywhere! When Shalini changed from one outfit to the other , she went from wearing a lovely cotton sari to a lehenga stitched together by one of her friends!! Now, that is what you call a labour of love! With it, she put on a flower wreath put together by April!! Did we mention that one of the bride’s best friends baked their wedding cake for them? A 3-tier wedding cake!!! It looked totally professional so you can imagine our surprise when we heard that the friend never really bakes!! Before I leave you so you can check out the photos, I have to tell you about the favours. The favours were homemade soaps made  by the couple and their friends ! We made sure we got one each for ourselves 🙂 They smelt so good!!!
This wedding was all about one thing- Love. And Happiness. Okay, that is two things- but it all comes under one category doesn’t it?? Love and happiness. You really don’t need anything else!

Thank you Shalini and Aditya for having us and the wonderful hospitality! We hope more people follow your example and focus more on the people and energies that surround a wedding  than the other less important things!

Tuesday Shoesday : Banana Pancakes

This may be an odd trait that is unique to me, but, this is what I do when I look at a pair of shoes in a store – I imagine myself wearing them; the outfit, the setting, what I’ll be doing; everything.  I look at these super cute shoes and imagine myself in a cotton dress belted at the waist, hair loose and skin dewy – walking from my (ahem!) banana plantation along the caribbean coast of Central America, to the local post office to pick up a present that Kismet has sent me from India! Oh the joy! *all in my day dreams*
