Thursday Thoughts:Guestpost- The perfect honeymoon {African Edition}

Jambo!! By the time you all read this, half of the Unreal Bride team (that’s me!) will be already in the middle of my awesome vacation in Kenya! Thanks to the power of twitter- I ‘met’ Louise who had some great tips about what to do in Kenya and where to stay, eat and shop-all the important things one needs to know for a holiday! That’s what brings us to today’s post.Louise was kind enough to put together a guest post on some great places to honeymoon right from South Africa to Kenya- she got married in South Africa (see more from her wedding here) and then honeymooned in Kenya and Zanzibar- so if I were you, I would read carefully and take her advice- she definitely knows what she is talking about! Enough from me- say hello to Louise!

Hi Unreal Bride readers!  Louise here, from Bijoux Bride.  I’m so excited Kismet asked me to guest post while she’s off on her adventures, and this is my first guest post so please be nice 🙂

Kismet and I met on twitter while she was researching her trip, considering my general obsession with Africa (I married a South African in Cape Town and honeymooned in Kenya & Zanzibar!) I couldn’t resist sharing my experiences!

My love affair with Africa has been alive for almost 10 years now, and I would love nothing more than to encourage you to honeymoon there!

So, why Africa?  Well, its stunning and varied scenery, beautiful weather, and friendly and welcoming culture will steal your heart!  Despite the bad press you have probably read about safety in Africa, please don’t let that put you off.  With a bit of common sense you will be able to enjoy everything this magical place has to offer, trouble-free.

Cape Town has become a popular overseas wedding and honeymoon destination in the last few years, the successful 2010 Soccer World Cup threw a spotlight on the Rainbow Nation, and didn’t they shine?  Cape Town offers the best of city and beach, wine country and private game reserves, so if you’re limited for time it’s a great choice to experience a little bit of Africa.

For a luxury city break, stay at The One & Only in V&A Waterfront, home of luxury boutiques and cool restaurants.   From here it’s a quick car journey into the city centre, where you can explore the Castle of Good Hope, the old Cape Malay Quarter of the Bo Kaap and visit the stalls full  African curios at Greenmarket Square.
