Get planning -you’ve got more help than you need!

We are totally digging Harper’s Bazaar’s new addition to the world of weddings- Harper’s Bazaar Bride . Each issue till now  has been packed with pretty clothes, loads of ideas and all kinds of inspiration that is wedding related. This month’s is extra special since it is the planning issue. If you are getting married this winter, you better be half way through your planning – you should know what you are wearing, where  you are getting married and most importantly who will be photographing  your wedding 😀 .

Speaking of which, I am totally humbled and honoured to be featured in the Bazaar Bride’s list of  ‘most talented photographers in the country’. Totally kicked! So, if you haven’t picked up your copy yet- you probably should -it’s full of some great ideas and resources!

Excuses, explanations and some media love.

I don’t even want to think about how many readers we have lost over the months we haven’t been blogging. It hurts to think about it.  Though our stats do say we still have a regular flow of readers, I think it’s probably to check if we have posted something new. Shame on us! Two months of no updates! Shocking!!!

There is a valid reason though! Promise!! No lame excuses here- we have a fully valid reason, which once you hear, you will forgive us for being so quiet.

So you know how most wedding blogs are born when a bride needs a place to put down her ideas, organize her thoughts , look for inspiration? The bride keeps blogging post wedding because it just such a fun and addictive thing to do.Keyword here is ‘most’. Unlike most wedding blogs, The Unreal Bride wasn’t born like that. We wanted to tell people what we do (engagement sessions, bridal photography etc etc) and thought a blog would be the best way to do that. One thing led to another and before we knew it, we were blogging full time with no wedding on the near horizon. Merrily being non- bridal -wedding bloggers. Till one day one of us decided it was time to get married.

What planning an unreal wedding should’ve meant- lots of research(read more time spent on Pinterest), more wedding planning related posts, weekly updates , sharing inspiration, discussing outfits and basically a lot more blogging!!!! What planning an unreal wedding actually meant- absolutely no time to do the above, trying to balance work and wedding planning, using the fiancé as a punching bag, becoming a gardener, fighting everyone and everything that came in the way, denial, lots of last minute drama and of course being the complete bridezilla. If this is not a valid reason enough for being AWOL, I don’t know what is.

I won’t lie-it was the.most.stressful.time in my entire life but, here it is- the big BUT – but, it led up to the most amazing, wonderful and memorable moments in my life. So, I guess it was all worth it. Maybe. No, no !! I jest- it was completely worth it. My heart has never been full of so much love and life as it was during those five days. I intend on sharing the planning phases and the decision-making stages with all of you-step by step. Before I do that though, I just wanted to say we are still here! Alive and ready to get back to being regular bloggers! Do I hear a Yay ?!?

Since no blog post is really complete without some photos in it, I am attaching an article published today in TimesLife talking about our love for Photo booths. I have got to say- being featured in a national paper has quite a different high as compared to being featured in a local paper. The phone hasn’t stopped buzzing today with calls and messages from all over the country- Bombay, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Nagpur are a few examples!!!Got to admit that we are pretty chuffed!  Thank you for the love and we will be back with The Unreal Diaries very soon where you can see where we went right (and wrong) while planning a wedding!

Media Love ❤ ❤ Marie Claire Feature

Reason number two gazillion and one why I love twitter-the amazing AMAZING connections and opportunities it presents! That’s pretty much how we ended up being featured in Marie Claire! Pretty cool, huh? We are pretty psyched!

I think Sam is our favouritest bride of all time- and I am glad its her photo that was selected for this issue. Don’t know Sam yet? Check her wedding out here on the blog and it was even featured on one of my favourite blogs-Bridal Musings here so you should check that out as well!

I added a bit of my own ‘artwork’ to the article in case you missed the write up about us. Sidenote: My photo taking skills are WAY better than my design skills. So , dont judge! Thanks !!

It’s extra cool since we are in the company of some really cool people in this article- a fellow photographer , Priyanka(Sachar) and the fabulous wedding planner, Candice. Thanks again Vivani for this awesome feature!

I can’t wait to get my hands on an actual physical copy of the magazine-it still hasn’t reached the stands in Chandigarh yet.Yay!Great start to what is the beginning of wedding season for us. Have a good week, everyone!

Thank you  Marie Claire India.

Friday Fun: Simply Punjabi {That’s Us!!!}

I guess one of life’s little lessons is to learn to laugh things out especially when something doesn’t go your way or when it is far from what you expected it to be! The other thing is to learn to laugh at yourself. Especially those photos (and telly moments) when you look at yourself and think, “Wow! Do I really look (talk) like that?” . Yes, those are the times you should laugh at yourself and be thankful you were wearing a humongous flower on your head to distract your reader’s attention!

We are so humbled by the amount of media attention we have been getting and really it is great for business but this is one of those times where we kind of just sat back and laughed- at ourselves mostly! The other time is when we were featured on NDTV (Remember NDTV Neha?) – it was a great experience but Oh.My.God. were we ever so awkward on telly?! You will get to see that too. When the time is right.

Moving on to this little feature in India Today’s supplement- Simply Punjabi, it was about women who work out of their homes etc etc. It’s a sweet article and we got featured alongside some cool people but I HAVE to point out –

  • My name is spelt with an ‘E’ – KismEt and not KismAt. In my books, that is the worse thing you can do to me. (yes, I am VERY touchy about it!)
  • ‘Memorable Clicks’ . Uhm, really?
  • No, April and I do not live together . It’s not surprising that it has been mentioned as ‘our’ home considering we have been invited to weddings as a couple!! Forget that both of us have boyfriends!
  • Last of all, let me clarify- one part of the Unreal Bride is all about Bridal Sessions and another part is about Wedding photography. There are other parts too but I wont get into that now!
  • Oh, the last last of all- thanks to one of our readers who pointed out we have been tagged incorrectly- April is on the RIGHT and I am on the left!
I am aware that after this maybe no one will ever write an article about us again but sometimes you just have to say what you have to say, right? We really enjoyed the article and it really brightened up our day and are looking forward to all the inquiries we will get after ALL of Punjab reads this!
Have a good weekend!!!
