Excuses, explanations and some media love.

I don’t even want to think about how many readers we have lost over the months we haven’t been blogging. It hurts to think about it.  Though our stats do say we still have a regular flow of readers, I think it’s probably to check if we have posted something new. Shame on us! Two months of no updates! Shocking!!!

There is a valid reason though! Promise!! No lame excuses here- we have a fully valid reason, which once you hear, you will forgive us for being so quiet.

So you know how most wedding blogs are born when a bride needs a place to put down her ideas, organize her thoughts , look for inspiration? The bride keeps blogging post wedding because it just such a fun and addictive thing to do.Keyword here is ‘most’. Unlike most wedding blogs, The Unreal Bride wasn’t born like that. We wanted to tell people what we do (engagement sessions, bridal photography etc etc) and thought a blog would be the best way to do that. One thing led to another and before we knew it, we were blogging full time with no wedding on the near horizon. Merrily being non- bridal -wedding bloggers. Till one day one of us decided it was time to get married.

What planning an unreal wedding should’ve meant- lots of research(read more time spent on Pinterest), more wedding planning related posts, weekly updates , sharing inspiration, discussing outfits and basically a lot more blogging!!!! What planning an unreal wedding actually meant- absolutely no time to do the above, trying to balance work and wedding planning, using the fiancé as a punching bag, becoming a gardener, fighting everyone and everything that came in the way, denial, lots of last minute drama and of course being the complete bridezilla. If this is not a valid reason enough for being AWOL, I don’t know what is.

I won’t lie-it was the.most.stressful.time in my entire life but, here it is- the big BUT – but, it led up to the most amazing, wonderful and memorable moments in my life. So, I guess it was all worth it. Maybe. No, no !! I jest- it was completely worth it. My heart has never been full of so much love and life as it was during those five days. I intend on sharing the planning phases and the decision-making stages with all of you-step by step. Before I do that though, I just wanted to say we are still here! Alive and ready to get back to being regular bloggers! Do I hear a Yay ?!?

Since no blog post is really complete without some photos in it, I am attaching an article published today in TimesLife talking about our love for Photo booths. I have got to say- being featured in a national paper has quite a different high as compared to being featured in a local paper. The phone hasn’t stopped buzzing today with calls and messages from all over the country- Bombay, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Nagpur are a few examples!!!Got to admit that we are pretty chuffed!  Thank you for the love and we will be back with The Unreal Diaries very soon where you can see where we went right (and wrong) while planning a wedding!

Thursday Thoughts : Tentilicious!

Have you ever attended an Indian wedding where there was no tent? I doubt you answered that in the affirmative! Tenting, just like everything else in the Indian wedding industry has come a long way from the haphazard white, yellow and red basic tents that were constructed back in the 80’s and 90’s. Sometime in the new millenium tents became  a whole lot fancier.

Not only is tenting important to make your venue beautiful – its also essential to the kind of photographs you’ll have of the wedding celebrations! Thats just how we think – its always about the photos. We came across these gorgeous tenting ideas that we couldn’t ‘not’ share with you.

This would be ideal for the afternoon mehendi session- so festive and pretty.

How about if Indian weddings had sit down lunches and dinners-wouldn’t this setting be ideal? Look at the details- the tents are really DELICIOUS!

Interview with Priya&Hari

The Unreal Bride brings to you an interview of a soon to be married couple! Hope you enjoy reading it as much as we enjoyed taking it!

Priya : I don’t believe in love at first sight or that type of thing. For me that’s all very superficial and temporary. What I like about us is that we really grew into one another and grew together – we developed a really deep relationship where we completely understand each other – we’re on the same wavelength.

Hari: When you’re in a relationship and you understand each other so well – nothing is difficult.

This is Hari and Priyas story

Priya moved to Chandigarh a few years ago and didn’t know  a soul except for her Grandparents. For a year, she hung out with them and their friends. She attended parties with them and played Tambola; since she didn’t have the pre-requisite papers to work in India. That year, her youngest friend was probably 80 years old, as pointed out to us by Hari.

At the same time Hari had just moved back from Manchester where he had been studying music. Slowly, Priya got to know some people (closer to her age) who also happened to be Hari’s friends.

Their paths didn’t cross (which is odd while living in such a small town) till one fateful rainy night. Yes, it sounds a bit like a fairy tale but perhaps that is true of their entire story! Priya didn’t want to go out that night, happily tucked into bed watching a DVD but her friends convinced her to come out for a little bit. A small gathering, she knew everyone except for one person- Hari. She tells us that it may sound strange, but she had an intuition about this unknown person- a funny feeling in her stomach-like something special was going to happen.  We don’t think it’s strange at all- we do believe in movies like Serendipity!

Priya soon forgot about this intuition, because Hari played the part of the cool, unaffected guy around the only girl in the room. He was playing hard to get and that intrigued Priya! She found it kind of snobbish but still he had caught her attention. The turning point where Hari switched from being the nonchalant boy to the ‘only’ boy in the room was when they spoke about how your 25th birthday is a pivotal point in a person’s life.  They talked the night away and before they knew it , they were holding hands (secretly behind their backs!).

Hari surprised Priya by messaging her on Facebook the very next day. The note was so thoughtful and articulate , she was really impressed! From then on, they spent a whole lot of time together, hanging out all the time and the conversation never ceasing!

The two of them had never really thought about marriage: it was Hari’s parents who planted the seed (Inception is what Hari calls it!) in his head, and once it was planted – Hari asked Priya to marry him almost everyday. One day, after Priya in her true style had analyzed the whole situation a  ‘few hundred and gazillion times’, she said yes! Hari kind of freaked out at that and realised it was about time he actually put some thought into it since he ‘never really thought this kind of inception would work’! As for Priya, she couldn’t think of a reason why she shouldn’t marry him, since she had never loved someone so much as she did him!

It’s a wonder we managed to make a note of all these things while talking to Hari &Priya- so immersed were we in this fantastic love story of theirs!

Thanks to our blackberry cum dictaphone, we managed to get the entire thing on tape!

Now, it’s time to talk about the wedding, question and answer style!
